Throughout the week, participants will develop skills in:

  • Race starts
  • Upwind and downwind sailing techniques

Water Comfort Check (Required on Day 1):
The ETYSA Water Comfort Check is designed to assess a participant’s comfort and safety in the water, rather than swimming ability. All sailors must complete this check on the first day of camp before participating in any on-water activities, including sailing and capsize recovery.

The Water Comfort Check includes:

  • Life Jacket Fit Check: Instructors will ensure each sailor’s life jacket fits properly. If needed, a properly fitting loaner will be provided.
  • Swim & Tread Water: Sailors will enter the water wearing their life jacket, clothes, and shoes. They will swim approximately 25 yards, tread water for 1 minute, and then return to shore.

This process helps ensure each sailor is prepared for a safe and enjoyable experience on the water.
