At ETYSA, there is a sailing program for everyone!  Regardless of your time on the water and experience level, there’s a camp week that’s just right for you. Those new to sailing start in INTRODUCTION TO SAILING; those with more experience will be placed in more advanced classes. This week of camp offers three levels:  Introduction to Sailing, Beginners, and Intermediate/Advanced.  Please indicate sailing experience below for proper placement.  Each course starts on a Monday and runs through Friday, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.  Participants must be 8 years old (by Oct 1, 2024) and competent swimmers to attend camp.  On the first day, all campers will be required to pass a water safety assessment by swimming 50 yards and treading water for 5 minutes.  You must be a current ETYSA member to register for camp. (Family membership is $50.00 a year). ETYSA's REPEAT WEEK is designed for camp participants who have attended at least one or more weeks of summer camp.  It is not intended for first-time campers. During Repeat Week, sailors will jump right into their boats and begin honing their skills! During this week, interested sailors have the opportunity to Learn to Race and put their new skills to the test at the 20th Annual Roanoke Island Maritime Museum One-Design Regatta in Manteo, NC, on Saturday, July 29, 2023 (separate registration, not included in camp registration). This week of camp offers Beginning and Intermediate/Advanced courses and introduces the Game of Yachting.  Please indicate your child's sailing experience below for proper placement.  Each course starts on a Monday and runs through Friday, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.  Participants must have attended camp before (previous summers count!).   You must be a current ETYSA member to register for camp. (Family membership is $50.00 a year). At ETYSA, there is a sailing program for everyone!  ETYSA's ALL LEVELS week is designed for camp participants of ALL LEVELS from those who have zero hours on the water to those who are ready to jump right into their boats and begin honing their skills!  This week of camp offers all three courses:  Introduction, Beginning, and Intermediate/Advanced.  Please indicate your child's sailing experience below for proper placement.  Depending on registration and participant interest, this week may also include an Opti Green Fleet, an introduction to the Game of Yachting, and/or learn-to-race techniques. Each course starts on a Monday and runs through Friday, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.  Participants must be 8 years old by October 1, 2023, and competent swimmers.  On the first day, all campers will be required to pass a water safety assessment by swimming 50 yards and treading water for 5 minutes.  You must be a current ETYSA member to register for camp. (Family membership is $50.00 a year). **MUST have approval from Head Instructor to attend this week.** It's TIME TO KICK OFF THE SUMMER!  ETYSA would like to welcome back our veteran camp participants and Junior Instructors in Training.  Participants may attend the entire week or each day separately.  This week will be used as training for our instructors and volunteers.  In addition, advanced sailors will have the opportunity to learn and practice spinnaker and trapeze skills. Come join us for a fun week on the water to kick off the summer sailing season! Pricing for this special advanced training week is $35/day.  You must be a current ETYSA family or sponsor member (Family membership is $50.00 a year).

It's high school sailing and race team season!  This program is designed for intermediate-advanced 420 sailors who are interested in high school sailing and/or sailing in SAYRA (South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association) regattas.  Practices will be led by certified US Sailing Instructors and will focus on race strategy, technique, racing rules, regatta planning, and on-the-water coaching.  Participants will be expected to rig boats efficiently to maximize sailing time. Race Team fees cover the following: ~ Two practices per week, led by highly qualified coaching staff, for 6 weeks from September 16-October 21.  ~Extra weekday practices prior to the first two high school sailing regattas in mid-October.  ~Approximately 6-8 hours of practice weekly for a total of approximately 50 hours over the course of the season. ~Use of ETYSA boats during all practices and regattas. **REGATTA FEES including registration, coaching, and lodging will be separate.** ~

Learn how to sail with ETYSA and Coach Glenn!  These after-school sessions are designed for kids ages 8-12 with little to no sailing experience, including summer campers who attended 3 weeks or less.  Using Coach Glenn's unique Learn to Sail approach, participants will be on the water beginning with the first session and sailing independently by the last session.  The focus of this program is on developing a love of sailing while teaching the basic foundational skills needed to sail any boat.  Fees include boat rental (Opti and Topaz), 3 afternoons of lessons, snacks, and US Sailing Certified Instructor(s). ETYSA members are invited to attend:  The 2022 Roanoke Island Maritime Museum Annual One-Design Regatta This annual regatta pays tribute to the deeply rooted sailing history in the Town of Manteo.  Held the last Saturday in July, this regional regatta is open to Optimist, 420, Sunfish, and Topaz sailboats.  There is both a youth and an adult division because playing on the water is fun for all ages!  Join the ETYSA Sailing Team in traveling to this event for $50.00.  The ETYSA fee includes coaching by ETYSA US Sailing certified instructors, as well as the use of an ETYSA dinghy to race.  All participants are responsible for their own race registration with the Maritime Museum, travel to and from the event, and lodging if desired: registration cost for racing is $30 per sailor and includes 1 dinner and 1 t-shirt.  Entry forms and a Notice of Race may be found here:   https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1n05mRm3_AwC_7-I2OAGGEFrV-wGBM2dI?usp=sharing For landlubbers, watch the race from one of the park benches in Washington Creef Park or sit on one of the docks on the bay.  There is no such thing as a bad view in downtown Manteo!
